Immunohistochemistry is a laboratory test used for identification of presence or absence of certain proteins within cells in a tissue biopsy specimens. This test can be qualitative and semiquantitative. Immunohistochemical identification of such proteins is useful in diagnosis and prognosis in certain cancers. These tests help identify the correct type of tumor, it's biological behaviour and treatment options.
